The programme was jointly organized by the ADBU Centre for Skill Development, the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the Research &amp; Development Cell (RDC), and the Royal Enfield Centre at ADBU. The training aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements by providing students with hands-on exposure to modern motorcycle technology, maintenance practices, and professional workplace skills relevant to the two-wheeler industry. A total of 23 trainees participated in the programme, including 9 students from Bongaigaon Polytechnic and 14 from Kamrup Polytechnic, with most participants belonging to the male category except one female participant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The programme commenced with an inaugural session attended by distinguished dignitaries including Prof. Manoranjan Kalita, Director, School of Technology; Fr. K. J. Thomas, Rector, Assam Don Bosco University, Azara Campus; Fr. Thomas Lakda, Campus Minister; and Dr. Buljit Buragohain, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Their presence highlighted the university\u2019s commitment to promoting skill development, industry collaboration, and practical technical education. The programme concluded with a valedictory ceremony attended by the same dignitaries along with Dr. Hemashree Bordoloi, Assistant Secretary of the Research and Development Cell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The training programme was conducted under the guidance and coordination of Dr. Mriganka Gogoi, Coordinator, ADBU Centre for Skill Development; Dr. Pushpanjalee Konwar, Assistant Coordinator, ADBU Centre for Skill Development; Prof. Vikramjit Kakati, Director, R&amp;D Cell; Mr. Pranjal Sarma, Coordinator, Department of Mechanical Engineering; Mr. Neil B. Hingmang, Training Manager, Royal Enfield; and Mr. Deb Jyoti Roy, Assistant Trainer \u2013 Service Training, Royal Enfield. The structure of the programme combined classroom-based theoretical sessions with demonstrations and extensive hands-on practical training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants were introduced to Royal Enfield motorcycles and automotive fundamentals, workshop safety practices, tools and equipment usage, service manuals, and preventive maintenance concepts. Practical training included engine assembly and disassembly, electrical systems and wiring, fuel and lubrication systems, brake and suspension systems, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and periodic servicing procedures. Soft skill sessions were also incorporated to enhance communication, teamwork, professionalism, and time management. Participants were evaluated based on attendance, discipline, punctuality, teamwork, and practical performance.
