The Department of Bio-Sciences at Assam Don Bosco University organised a National Rangoli Competition<\/em> as part of the Microbiology Society of India (MBSI) event, fostering creativity and scientific engagement among students. The competition was hosted by the student unit of the department under the leadership of Ms. Nisha, President of the MBSI Student Unit and a student of M.Sc. Microbiology (3rd semester), along with her team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme commenced at 1:30 p.m. in the department corridor and was supervised by faculty members Maitreyee Dutta Swargiary, Dr. Vedant Borah, and Dr. Monika Soni. Rangoli materials were provided to all participants, and the competition adhered to pre-defined guidelines issued by MBSI, with separate themes and criteria for undergraduate and postgraduate categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants showcased their creativity by designing rangolis depicting microbial forms and portraits of eminent microbiologists such as Robert Koch and Louis Pasteur. Through their artistic expressions, students highlighted key contributions of these pioneers\u2014Koch\u2019s identification of causative agents of major infectious diseases and Pasteur\u2019s foundational work in vaccination, fermentation, and pasteurisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The competition served as an innovative platform for students to engage with microbiological concepts beyond the classroom, combining scientific understanding with artistic interpretation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event concluded with an evaluation conducted by the Head of the Department of Bio-Sciences, who announced the winners. The first prize was awarded to Jonak Jyoti Phukan and Banajit Chakrabarty, followed by Ijaz and Phibansabet Syiemlieh in second place, and Daysun Raynier D. Shira and Favio Andonni Rymmai securing third place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the rangoli entries by Ms. Nisha Seth and Nasima Yasmin, as well as Ujin and Pretty Brahma, were nominated for the MBSI National Rangoli Competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme concluded with a group photograph, capturing the enthusiasm, creativity, and active participation of all involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
