The Biowizard Club of the Department of Botany, Assam Don Bosco University, successfully organized a one-day workshop on \u201cMushroom Spawn Production: Techniques and Emerging Opportunities\u201d<\/strong> on 10th<\/sup> October 2025. The workshop, coordinated by Dr. Farzana Naseem<\/strong> and Dr. Toshinungla Ao<\/strong>, aimed to impart practical skills, scientific understanding, and entrepreneurial awareness in the field of mushroom biotechnology<\/strong> \u2014 a rapidly expanding sector in sustainable agriculture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop commenced at 9:00 a.m. with an inaugural ceremony attended by dignitaries including Fr. Zacharias George (Registrar)<\/strong>, Dr. Raj K. Pegu (Director, School of Life Sciences)<\/strong>, and Dr. T. Thorny Chanu (Head, Department of Botany)<\/strong>, along with faculty members and students. In her welcome address, Dr. Chanu emphasized the growing potential of mushroom cultivation as a livelihood skill and an entrepreneurship avenue. The Registrar appreciated the department\u2019s efforts in promoting skill-based education<\/strong> aligned with the national vision of Viksit Bharat@2047<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A total of 32 participants<\/strong> attended the workshop, including undergraduate and postgraduate students. Notably, two participants from Bodoland University<\/strong> and Nirmal Haloi College<\/strong> joined the event, reflecting the broader academic outreach of the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
