About the Department

The Department of Mathematics was initially established as a constituent unit of the Department of Basic Sciences to support teaching in the B.Tech and M.Tech programmes under the School of Technology. Subsequently, it began functioning as an independent department under the School of Fundamental and Applied Sciences from 1st April, 2018.

The Department fosters a robust research environment, reflected in its diverse and advanced areas of specialization, including Number Theory, Real and Functional Analysis, Optimization Techniques, Graph Theory, Algebra and Topology, Differential Equations and Dynamical Systems, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Fuzzy Mathematics, Fluid Dynamics, Numerical Analysis, Computational Mathematics, Mathematical Modelling, Operations Research, Cryptography, Network Theory, and Mathematics Education.

The Department regularly organizes conferences, workshops, seminars, and symposiums, and hosts lectures by eminent academicians to remain aligned with the latest developments in teaching and research.

As part of its social commitment, the Department actively engages in outreach programmes aimed at disseminating mathematical knowledge to underserved communities and institutions with limited access to educational resources.
