The Institute of Pharmacy, Assam Don Bosco University, successfully organized the 5th National Pharmacovigilance Week 2025<\/strong> at the Cenacle Hall, Block 5, on Thursday, September 18, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The program, attended by 176 participants<\/strong> from B.Pharm and D.Pharm courses, highlighted the critical role of pharmacovigilance in ensuring drug safety and advancing healthcare practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event commenced with a prayer song<\/strong>, reflecting the university\u2019s values and setting a solemn tone for the academic proceedings. This was followed by a welcome address by Prof. Raja Chakraborty, Principal of the Institute<\/strong>, who emphasized the importance of pharmacovigilance in modern healthcare and encouraged students to cultivate awareness of drug safety practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The highlight of the academic session was a technical lecture delivered by Dr. Deepjyoti Saikia, Assistant Professor<\/strong>, who provided an in-depth overview of pharmacovigilance fundamentals and the practical procedures of Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR) reporting. His presentation offered valuable insights and professional guidance for budding pharmacists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adding an interactive dimension to the program, an Extempore Speech Competition<\/strong> was held, where students showcased their understanding of pharmacovigilance concepts through spontaneous and thought-provoking presentations. The competition was evaluated by a distinguished panel of faculty members\u2014Dr. T. Uriah, Dr. W. Somraj Singh, and Dr. Emdormi Rymbai<\/strong>\u2014who commended the students for their clarity of thought and enthusiasm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The comprehensive program combined academic learning with student participation<\/strong>, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience.
