The Research and Development Cell (RDC), Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU), in collaboration with the Departments of Botany, Zoology, and Physics, organized a one-day workshop titled \u201cGetting Started with R: A Foundation for Climate Change and Disaster Studies\u201d<\/strong> on 5 October 2026 at Crystal Hall, Tapesia Campus, ADBU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop aimed to introduce participants to R, an open-source statistical computing platform, with a focus on data management, statistical analysis, and visualization for climate change, environmental research, and disaster studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Raj Kumar Pegu, Director, School of Life Sciences, ADBU, inaugurated the programme and felicitated the resource person, Dr. Kuladeep Sarma, Department of Zoology, Gauhati University<\/strong>. He highlighted the importance of research skills and analytical tools in strengthening scientific investigations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The technical sessions covered the fundamentals of R, basic statistical analysis, graphical representation of data, and interpretation of analytical results. The resource person highlighted the applications of R in analysing temperature and rainfall data, identifying environmental patterns, and supporting interdisciplinary research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop witnessed encouraging participation from students, research scholars, and faculty members representing diverse academic disciplines, including Botany, Zoology, Geography, Economics, and Bioscience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme was coordinated by Dr. Jyotishman Deka, Dr. Lima Hazarika, and Dr. Bikash Kalita. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Jyotishman Deka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
