As part of our commitment to cultivating socially responsible citizens and promoting dignity in all forms of labour, the Department of Public Administration organized a workshop titled \u201cDignity in Doing: Reclaiming Labour in the Classroom\u201d on the occasion of International Labour Day<\/em> on 2nd May 2025 (Friday). The event was held at Block-V of the university campus and witnessed the enthusiastic participation of students, faculty, and university staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop commenced at 9:00 am with a welcome note and a special presentation by the coordinator Dr. Santhosh Juvvaka, Assistant Professor and event coordinator. Dr. Juvvaka elaborated on the philosophical and political significance of labour, drawing from real-life examples to underline the need for recognizing and reclaiming labour dignity within the educational space. His insights encouraged students to think critically about their own responsibilities in upholding cleanliness and justice in everyday life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An interactive segment followed, featuring Ms. Minamma and other members of the university\u2019s cleaning staff, who were invited to share their experiences. Their testimonies were both moving and enlightening. They spoke candidly about the importance of hygiene, their daily challenges, and expressed a heartfelt appeal to students to maintain cleanliness and show respect for all forms of labour. Their interaction served as a powerful reminder of the human effort behind every clean classroom and functional space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The students responded with deep respect and admiration, acknowledging the invaluable work done by the university\u2019s support staff. Many expressed their intent to be more mindful of their surroundings and to contribute actively to a culture of mutual respect. Following that students visited different class rooms and collected waste materials and put them into dustbins. The workshop concluded at 1:00 pm with a vote of thanks to all speakers, participants, and especially the labour force that keeps our university running. The participants left with a renewed sense of solidarity and appreciation for labour in all its forms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
