The main objective of the programme was to familiarize participants with the&nbsp;<strong>fundamental concepts of biostatistics<\/strong>&nbsp;and introduce them to the&nbsp;<strong>use of software tools for statistical data analysis<\/strong>, enabling them to apply suitable statistical tests and correctly interpret research data.The&nbsp;<strong>inaugural session<\/strong>&nbsp;began with a&nbsp;<strong>welcome address by Dr. Biswajit Chakdar, Assistant Professor (Senior)<\/strong>, followed by remarks from&nbsp;<strong>Dr. Jane Wanry Shangpliang, Head of the Department of Zoology<\/strong>. Both speakers emphasized the importance of statistical understanding in research and encouraged participants to strengthen their analytical and data interpretation skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The technical sessions were led by&nbsp;<strong>Prof. Hilloljyoti Singha<\/strong>, Professor,&nbsp;<strong>Department of Zoology, Bodoland University<\/strong>, who served as the&nbsp;<strong>chief resource person<\/strong>. He was assisted by&nbsp;<strong>Mrs. Bibha Rani Talukdar<\/strong>, Assistant Professor,&nbsp;<strong>Goreswar College<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>Mr. Saurabh Mardi<\/strong>, Research Scholar,&nbsp;<strong>Department of Zoology, Bodoland University<\/strong>. The workshop comprised&nbsp;<strong>two technical sessions each day<\/strong>, which included detailed lectures and&nbsp;<strong>hands-on demonstrations on data summarization, hypothesis testing, and various statistical tests such as the Chi-square test, t-test, z-test, Kruskal\u2013Wallis test, Mann\u2013Whitney U test, ANOVA, and correlation analysis<\/strong>. Participants also received&nbsp;<strong>practical training using PAST software and Microsoft Excel<\/strong>&nbsp;to perform these analyses, interpret outputs, and understand the appropriate applications of each test. A total of&nbsp;<strong>23 participants<\/strong>&nbsp;attended the workshop, including&nbsp;<strong>three faculty members, nineteen Ph.D. research scholars, and one project associate<\/strong>&nbsp;from&nbsp;<strong>Assam Don Bosco University<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM)<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>Assam Down Town University<\/strong>.
