The purpose of the visit was to provide field based exposure to<br>wildlife ecology, biodiversity conservation, and habitat assessment in a<br>protected area of international importance. The excursion was conducted under<br>the supervision of Dr. Rubaiya Hasan , Dr. Bakhtiar Hussain and Lab<br>Assistant Ms. Juli Morang . A total of 39 M.Sc. 2nd Semester students<br>participated in the excursion. The group departed from the university on the<br>morning of 7th February and reached the accommodation Smiling Tusker<br>Elephant Camp at around 1:00 PM. In the evening, students participated in a<br>guided nature walk inside the national park led by an expert naturalist, where<br>they observed forest and grassland ecosystems and gained practical insights into<br>habitat structure and biodiversity. Later at 7:30 PM, a documentary on Manas<br>National Park was screened, highlighting its conservation history, endangered<br>specie s, and management initiatives.<br>On 8th February, the group undertook an early morning safari ride up to the<br>Indo Bhutan border region, where several wildlife species were observed,<br>including the Indian One Horned Rhinoceros and the Capped Langur , along<br>with wild buffalo, elephants, and various bird species. The safari provided<br>valuable exposure to grassland and riverine ecosystems and practical wildlife<br>observation techniques. The students also visited the park museum to<br>understand the conservation history and biodiversity records of the area.
