A workshop on “Astrophysical Data Analysis” was organized by Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) in association with Tezpur University, and sponsored by the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune, from 21–23 March 2016 at the Azara campus of ADBU. The workshop brought together participants from seven universities and colleges, including ADBU, Tezpur University, Gauhati University, Assam University Silchar, Arya Vidyapeeth College Guwahati, Dimoria College Khetri, and St. Xavier’s College Kathmandu, and was aimed at postgraduate students, research scholars, and teachers in physics. Eminent speakers such as Prof. Dhruba Jyoti Saikia and Prof. Ranjeev Misra addressed the participants, with Prof. Misra outlining the objective of guiding participants toward a career in astrophysics research. The programme maintained a balanced mix of lectures and hands-on laboratory sessions, conducted by distinguished astrophysicists from IUCAA, Tezpur University, and Cotton College State University, where participants gained practical experience in astrophysical data analysis using software tools such as HEAsoft and IRAF. The workshop, the first of its kind in the region, was successfully organized under the leadership of Dr. Monmoyuri Baruah, Head, Department of Basic Sciences, ADBU, with the support of the department faculty.
