- Event Name: Webinar on Utility of Geoinformatics in Studying Climate Change and its Impacts

Summary:
On 18 December 2020, the Centre organized its first-ever webinar titled “Utility of Geoinformatics in Studying Climate Change and its Impacts.” The webinar featured eminent academicians and scientists who highlighted the role of geoinformatics in climate change research and impact assessment. The invited lecture series commenced with an address by Prof. Bhupendra Nath Goswami, SERB Distinguished Fellow, Department of Physics, Cotton University, who shared insights into climate dynamics and contemporary research challenges. This was followed by a lecture by Prof. Nitin Kumar Tripathi, Professor and Director (Special Degree Program), School of Engineering and Technology, Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, and Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Geoinformatics, who discussed advanced geoinformatics tools and applications. The session concluded with a talk by Dr. Shyam Sundar Kundu, Scientist, North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC), who elaborated on practical applications of geoinformatics in climate studies, particularly in the North Eastern region of India.

The MoU Exchange Ceremony was organized by the Centre for Geoinformatics on 08 November 2023 to formalize a collaborative partnership between M/s Assam Electronics Development Corporation Limited (AMTRON) and Assam Don Bosco University. Mr. Newton Sapam, under the guidance of Center for Geoinformatics, School of Technology, Assam Don Bosco University, successfully completed a UAV Remote Sensing Training Programme conducted by the North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC) during the period from 06 to 10 October 2025. The training focused on the principles, data acquisition techniques, and applications of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in remote sensing and geospatial analysis.
