5th Foundation Day Celebration of Amateur Radio Study & Development Centre

Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) celebrated the 5th Foundation Day of the Amateur Radio Study & Development Centre (ARS&DC), North East Region on 19th January 2026 with an awareness and outreach programme aimed at promoting Amateur (HAM) Radio and space science among students. Organised in collaboration with ARS&DC, the event featured live demonstrations of HAM radio equipment by ARS&DC members, offering participants hands-on exposure to radio communication systems and highlighting their critical role during emergencies and disaster management. A technical seminar was delivered by Mr. Taheruddin Ahmed, who explained the licensing process, operational requirements, and social relevance of Amateur Radio, emphasizing its importance in community service. During the programme, the book Air Wave on Amateur Radio was formally released by Fr. Jose Palely, Honourable Vice Chancellor of ADBU. The event was further enriched by an inspiring address from Mr. David Samikannu Anthuvan, Scientist, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), who shared insights into ISRO’s growth and technological milestones, strongly motivating students to pursue careers in radio systems and space technologies. The celebration successfully fostered scientific curiosity and left a lasting impression on the participants.
