Three-Day Training Programme on Computational Skills in Scientific Analysis Using Python

A three-day training programme titled “Computational Skills in Scientific Analysis using Python” was conducted from 8 to 10 January 2026 with the objective of introducing participants to Python programming and its applications in scientific analysis, numerical methods, data visualization, and computational modelling in physics. The programme, conducted by Dr. Parag Bhattacharya, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, Rangapara College (Autonomous), Assam, comprised lecture-based sessions with computational demonstrations using Python libraries such as NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib, and SymPy. Sessions were held from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM on the first two days and from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on the final day. The programme covered Python fundamentals, scientific libraries, vector algebra, visualization of physical systems, numerical differentiation and integration, matrix computations, scalar and vector fields, and the solution of ordinary and partial differential equations, including applications to the heat, wave, and Laplace equations. Overall, the training provided a concise yet effective exposure to Python-based computational techniques, strengthening conceptual understanding and emphasizing the role of computational tools in modern physics research.
