ADBU Civil Engineering Students Engage in UGC Chetna Water Awareness Programme

The Department of Civil Engineering, Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU), Azara, took a proactive step towards promoting sustainability by organizing a UGC Chetna Series lecture on “How to Mobilize Community Participation for Water Conservation” on 17th March 2026 at the School of Technology conference room via Webex. Held under the National Water Mission’s Jal Sanchay Jal Bhagidari initiative, the programme aimed to educate students, faculty, and staff on responsible water management while also providing technical insights on data reporting mechanisms. The session featured an impactful keynote by Smt. Archana Varma, IAS, Additional Secretary and Mission Director, National Water Mission, who emphasized the role of academic institutions in fostering community-led water conservation efforts. Coordinated by Dr. Pori Das, Assistant Professor and Institutional Nodal Officer, the event saw enthusiastic participation of around 120 attendees, with strong support from Principal Prof. Manoranjan Kalita and Head of Department Mr. Ankur Goswami. The initiative concluded with a technical session on National Water Mission data reporting, successfully instilling awareness and encouraging actionable steps toward sustainable water practices within the academic community.
