The session was conducted by CS Anshuman Barua, who provided valuable insights into the Company Secretary profession, its career prospects, qualification pathway, curriculum, training requirements and registration procedures.

The speaker highlighted the significant role of Company Secretaries in corporate governance, legal compliance, taxation, regulatory affairs and secretarial audit. Students were also familiarised with the distinction between the professional roles of Company Secretaries, Chartered Accountants and Cost Accountants.

The session covered the different stages of the CS qualification, including CSEET, CS Executive and CS Professional, along with the prescribed training requirements, fee structure and available concessions. Various career opportunities in corporate organisations, financial institutions, consultancy and independent professional practice were also discussed.

Particular emphasis was placed on the accessibility of the CS programme for students from the North-Eastern region, including examination facilities in Guwahati and Imphal and support from the North Eastern Chapter of ICSI. Students were also informed about the registration procedure and important examination deadlines.

The interactive session provided students with practical insights into the professional scope of Company Secretaries and helped them understand the opportunities available in corporate law, governance and compliance. The programme successfully encouraged students to explore the CS qualification as a promising career pathway alongside their regular academic programmes.
