One-Week International Training on Microcontroller and Embedded Operating Systems with STM32

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU), in collaboration with Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences (Frankfurt UAS), Germany, successfully organised a One-Week Training Course on “Microcontroller and Embedded Operating Systems with STM32” from 4–8 August 2025 at the School of Technology, Azara Campus. The training was conducted entirely in-person and coordinated by Dr. Alexy Bhowmick and Prof. (Dr.) Bobby Sharma, Head of the Department of CSE. A total of 32 selected students from B.Tech (CSE, EEE, ECE) and BCA participated in the intensive programme, gaining strong theoretical foundations and extensive hands-on experience in embedded systems and real-time operating systems.

The programme was led by Prof. (Dr.) Karsten Schmidt, Vice Dean, Faculty 2, Frankfurt UAS, assisted by Mr. Momar Fall and Mr. Jeldrik Schröer (Master’s students, Frankfurt UAS). The course covered essential topics including: GPIO programming, timers, UART, SPI, and I2C, ADC/DAC interfacing, RTOS concepts and FreeRTOS integration, multitasking, task scheduling, semaphores, and queues, daily assignments and a guided mini-project. Participants developed practical skills in programming STM32 microcontrollers and understanding the internal design and functioning of embedded operating systems—skills highly relevant to global industry standards. The event marks a significant milestone in ADBU’s growing international engagement and is expected to foster meaningful academic and research collaborations in the years ahead.
