8 March 2025: The Department of Social Work at Assam Don Bosco University organized an event titled “Accelerate Action” on March 8, 2025, to commemorate International Women’s Day. The programme aimed to honor the achievements of women while emphasizing the urgency of dismantling gender-based barriers through proactive and inclusive efforts. The event featured inspiring speeches and recognitions of local women leaders, including Ms. Mridula Injel, Ms. Bandana Bishaya, and Ms. Purnima Saikia, who shared their impactful journeys in community leadership, entrepreneurship, and child welfare. The keynote address by Ms. Ipshita Sarmah, founder of SAHAYIKA, highlighted the importance of intersectional empowerment and disability inclusion. Complemented by cultural performances, a documentary screening, and interactive sessions, the event successfully fostered dialogue, raised awareness on gender issues, and strengthened the bond between academia and the community. It concluded with a collective call to action, reaffirming the university’s commitment to promoting gender justice and social transformation.
