Media coverage—Symposium on Astronomy and Astrophysics organised at assam don bosco university

The Department of Physics at Assam Don Bosco University successfully organized a “Symposium on Astronomy and Astrophysics” on May 18th at Academic Block 1, Tapesia Campus, Sonapur. The event brought together students, researchers, and science enthusiasts for an engaging academic exchange. The symposium was conducted as an initiative of the Public Outreach and Education Committee of the Astronomical Society of India (ASI), in collaboration with the Department of Physics at Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) and the Physics Academy of North East (PANE). The programme featured two distinguished speakers from leading institutions in the field of astrophysics. Prof. Liton Majumdar from the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar, delivered a thought-provoking lecture titled “Are We Alone? Exploring Exoplanets and Life in the Universe.” His talk explored recent advancements in exoplanet research and the ongoing quest to understand the possibility of life beyond Earth. Prof. Ravinder Banyal from the Indian Institute of Astrophysics delivered an enlightening lecture entitled “Science and Scientific Thinking.” He emphasized the importance of scientific reasoning, critical thinking, and the role of science in shaping a rational society. The symposium witnessed active participation from students and faculty members, who engaged in lively discussions and interactions with the speakers. Ultimately, the event aimed to promote scientific awareness and inspire young minds to pursue research in astronomy and related interdisciplinary fields.
