The Department of Civil Engineering, Assam Don Bosco University School of Technology, in collaboration with the Institution Innovation Council, organised a lecture on “Basic Introduction to AI & ML for Hydrological Applications” on 6 February 2026. The session, delivered by Mr. Subhrangshu Purkayastha, Assistant Professor, introduced students to data-driven approaches in hydrology, highlighting how Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning can enhance rainfall–runoff prediction, flood risk assessment, and water resource management.
Participants were familiarised with core AI/ML concepts, common algorithms, and a hands-on demonstration of logistic regression for flood probability prediction using real datasets. Attended by faculty members, laboratory staff, and sixth-semester Civil Engineering students, the lecture promoted interdisciplinary learning and emphasized the growing role of digital technologies in modern civil engineering practice and disaster risk management.
