The Department of Civil Engineering, Assam Don Bosco University, is proud to be the only university from North-East India participating in the Jal Seva Adhyayan programme under the Jal Jeevan Mission, an initiative of the Government of India that engages engineering students in the technical assessment of rural water supply systems.
Under the mentorship of Dr. Mrinal Kanti Sen (Assistant Professor), a team of five 8th semester Civil Engineering students — Chisika Ch Marak, Kasano Dondime K Marak, Kezevito Pucho, Asolo Semy, and Marbudkiru War — conducted a field visit from 3rd to 7th February 2026 in East Garo Hills district, Meghalaya.
During the visit, the team assessed two Gram Panchayats, namely Dobetkolgre Apotgittim and Rongongre, where they carried out field inspections of water supply infrastructure, water quality testing using Field Testing Kits (FTKs), and household-level verification based on Jal Jeevan Mission guidelines. The team also completed the required technical parameters through visual inspection of pipelines, pumping systems, reservoirs, and distribution networks.
This field engagement provided students with valuable practical exposure to rural water supply systems, infrastructure evaluation, and community-level service assessment, while contributing to the technical monitoring and documentation of Jal Jeevan Mission schemes.
