Industry Expert Talk with St. Jude India ChildCare Centres

The Department of Social Work, organized an Industrial Expert Talk on “Holistic Care for Children with Cancer: Experience of St. Jude India ChildCare Centres.” in collaboration with St. Jude India ChildCare Centres on 30 August 2025 at the Tapesia Campus. The session introduced MSW students to holistic care models for children undergoing treatment for cancer, with emphasis on safe accommodation, nutrition, education, recreational support, and psychosocial care for both children and caregivers. Ms. Priyanka Saikia, Center Lead shared field-based experiences highlighting the role of social workers in counselling, casework, hospital coordination, and family support. The interactive discussion sensitized students to the emotional, social, and economic challenges faced by families during long-term illness and explored opportunities for internships, field exposure, and collaboration. The programme effectively bridged classroom learning with real-world practice in medical social work and reinforced the Department’s commitment to experiential and practice-oriented education.
