Department OF BOTANY Educational Tour to Shimla–Manali (January 2026)

The Shimla–Manali Educational Tour (4–12 January 2026) provided Botany students of Assam Don Bosco University with valuable field-based exposure to Himalayan ecosystems and temperate vegetation. Through visits to forest sanctuaries, alpine regions, and conservation sites, students gained first-hand understanding of plant diversity, ecological gradients, and high-altitude adaptations. The tour effectively bridged classroom theory with practical observation, strengthening knowledge in plant ecology, taxonomy, and biodiversity conservation while fostering research interest and environmental awareness.

Three-Day Bioinformatics Workshop Successfully Conducted at Assam Don Bosco University

The Department of Botany, Assam Don Bosco University, in collaboration with NIELIT, Guwahati, successfully organized a three-day Bioinformatics Workshop from 27–29 January 2026 under the MeitY-funded project “Smart Bioinformatics Ecosystem.” The workshop provided 110 participants with hands-on training in biological databases, sequence analysis, alignment tools, phylogenetics, and next-generation sequencing. Through expert lectures and practical sessions, the programme strengthened computational skills and promoted interdisciplinary learning in modern biological research.
