Often described as one of the most breathtaking viewpoints in the region, Laitlum—meaning “end of hills” in the Khasi language—offers sweeping panoramas of deep gorges, rolling green hills, and drifting clouds. Perched high in the East Khasi Hills, the site feels almost above the world, where the sky meets the earth in dramatic fashion.

Throughout the day, participants enjoyed trekking along the stone steps and trails, taking in the crisp mountain air and the serene silence broken only by the wind. The natural setting encouraged meaningful conversations, laughter, and shared moments between students and faculty, strengthening the department’s sense of community.

Beyond its beauty, Laitlum also reflects the unique geography and culture of the Khasi hills. The surrounding landscapes, dotted with small hamlets and terraced fields, offered a glimpse into rural life in Meghalaya and sparked discussions about sustainable living and regional development—topics close to the heart of Public Administration studies.

The excursion concluded with group photographs, light refreshments, and countless memories. The trip to Laitlum was not just a getaway, but a reminder of how nature can inspire reflection, connection, and renewed energy for academic life.
