International WoMen’s Day Lecture

The department of public administration, Assam Don Bosco University, organised International Women’s Day 2025 Special Lecture on 8th March 2025, 11:30 AM in Online mode. the Speaker was Dr. Ruchi Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of English and Modern European Language, University of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, the topic of her lecture was “When Gender, Caste Oppress, Whose Rights Are Left Behind?”

Lecture was opened with introduction of the speaker and theme by Dr. Santhosh J. the coordinator, Assistant Professor, Department of Public Administration. Followed by lecture. Dr. Ruchi Singh delivered a compelling lecture on the intersection of caste and gender oppression in India. She emphasized the compounded system of discrimination faced by Dalit women, who experience marginalization in both caste-based and gender-based contexts. The lecture provided critical insights into how mainstream feminism often overlooks caste-based issues, while Dalit political movements frequently fail to account for gender inequality.
