The Department of Zoology Assam Don Bosco University in collaboration with IQAC organized a career counselling session in Sericulture for the UG and PG students on the 29th October, 2024. The resource person for the event was Dr. Lalitha Natarajan, Scientist D, Eri Basic Silk Farm, Central Silk Board Topatoli. The event was divided into two sessions. In the first session the speaker spoke about the production and critical gaps in Ericulture and Research approach and in the second session she spoke about the weaving wealth and the economic potential of Sericulture. Dr. Lalitha enlightened the students about the different career opportunities in Sericulture in both the private and public sector. She focussed her talk on rearing silkworms, managing crops, and improving silk yield and how to conduct studies to improve sericulture practices, breed better silkworms, or develop sustainable methods. She also encouraged the students to start their own sericulture business or silk-related enterprise as Entrepreneurs especially in North East India so as to promote silk products, understanding market trends and consumer preferences in the region. The session concluded with a Q&A session with the participants and a vote of thanks. The event was attended by a total of 62 participants
