The Department of Civil Engineering, Assam Don Bosco University, organized a two-day industrial visit and field study on 27–28 March 2026 for 6th semester students, accompanied by faculty coordinators Ms. Sutanuka Nath and Dr. Jeni Bhattacharjee, with the objective of blending classroom learning with practical exposure; on the first day, students visited the North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC), Umiam, where they attended interactive sessions by scientists on the applications of Remote Sensing, GIS, UAV technology, Disaster Risk Reduction systems, and NAVIC-based satellite navigation in areas such as agriculture, urban planning, environmental monitoring, and disaster management, along with a live UAV demonstration and exposure to real-time hazard monitoring systems, while on the second day they undertook a field excursion to Cherrapunji (Sohra), visiting Nohkalikai Falls, Mawsmai Caves, and Nohsngithiang Falls, which gave them firsthand understanding of erosional landforms, karst topography, limestone cave formations, and the hydrological characteristics of Meghalaya’s landscape; overall, the visit served as a rich academic experience that successfully connected theoretical concepts in engineering geology, geomorphology, and geospatial technology with real-world observation and application.
