The Department of Management, Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU), successfully conducted its Bridge Course and Orientation Week from 27th to 31st July 2026, offering an enriching introduction to university life for the newly admitted BBA and Integrated MBA (IMBA) first-semester students. Designed to ease students into the academic environment and equip them with essential management fundamentals, the five-day programme combined academic orientation, skill development, career guidance, and interactive learning experiences.
The programme commenced with an inaugural session featuring a warm welcome by Ms. Rubi Haloi, Faculty Coordinator, followed by an address from Dr. Biju Mani Das, Director, School of Commerce and Management (SoCM), who familiarized students with the university’s rules, attendance policies, and academic guidelines. Dr. Chayanika Das, Head of the Department of Management, introduced the department’s vision and academic culture before engaging students in mentor interaction sessions along with Ms. Rubi Haloi, fostering an atmosphere of openness and support from the very first day.
Throughout the week, students participated in a series of informative orientation sessions covering the university’s academic framework, curriculum structure, evaluation system, ERP portal, and the SWAYAM learning platform. These sessions were facilitated by Dr. Chayanika Das, Dr. Samit Chowdhury, Dr. Vijay Prasad, and Mr. Amal Dev Sarma, ensuring that students gained a clear understanding of the academic and digital resources available to them.
The orientation also highlighted opportunities beyond the classroom. Mr. Anupam Gohain introduced students to the university’s Training and Placement Office (TPO), providing valuable insights into internships, placements, and career preparedness. Students were also introduced to the vibrant culture of student clubs and co-curricular activities through an engaging session conducted by Dr. Taniya Paul, encouraging holistic participation in campus life.
As part of the bridge course, foundation classes were conducted in key management disciplines to help students transition smoothly into their undergraduate studies. Ms. Rubi Haloi led sessions on Financial Accounting, while Dr. Taniya Paul and Mr. Amal Dev Sarma introduced students to the Principles and Practice of Management, laying a strong academic foundation for the semester ahead.
The programme also emphasized experiential learning and collaborative engagement. Students actively participated in mock Group Discussions facilitated by Dr. Jamal Hussain, interactive campus tours with task-based activities, and creative assignments such as video reel-making, enabling them to explore the campus while developing teamwork, communication, and creativity.
Career planning formed another important component of the week. Dr. Gaurav Das conducted a comprehensive career counselling session, guiding students on future academic pathways and professional opportunities after graduation. Additionally, Dr. Rashmita Barua facilitated an interactive team-building activity where students worked in groups to complete collaborative tasks, fostering cooperation, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
To ensure continuous improvement, structured feedback was collected from both students and parents through online and offline modes, reflecting the department’s commitment to delivering a meaningful and student-centric learning experience.
The Bridge Course and Orientation Week concluded on a highly positive note, successfully familiarizing students with the university’s academic ecosystem while nurturing confidence, collaboration, and a sense of belonging. The programme laid a strong foundation for the students’ academic journey and reaffirmed the Department of Management’s commitment to developing competent, responsible, and future-ready management professionals.
