World Social Work Day 2025 Celebration

On 18th March 2025, the Department of Social Work, Assam Don Bosco University, celebrated World Social Work Day with the theme “Strengthening Intergenerational Solidarity for Enduring Wellbeing.” The event began with a student-led presentation and song that emphasized social work values, followed by the inauguration of a wall magazine by Rev. Fr. Dr. Joy Mathew Ullattil, highlighting the theme’s message through visuals.

A panel discussion featuring Prof. Dinesh Baishya, Mr. Romen Ningthoujam, and Dr. Ramesh Sharma, chaired by Rev. Fr. Dr. Ullattil, delved into integrating indigenous knowledge in social work, community empowerment, and the complexities of building solidarity across generations. The session was opened by Dr. Subhrangshu Dhar and concluded with words of gratitude from Dr. Kheyali Roy.

The day also included an extempore speech competition and cultural performances from Bodo and Khasi traditions, reflecting the blend of heritage and modernity. Interactive Q&A sessions and prize distributions further engaged students.

Overall, the event successfully promoted intergenerational solidarity, deepened understanding of social work’s role in community development, and inspired continued collaboration among participants.
