Industrial visit to Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd

The visit of the B.Pharm 6th Semester students began with a warm welcome from the staff at Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd, on 6th January 2025 where an introductory session outlined the company and its Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) protocols.

Students toured the advanced manufacturing units, from the warehouse to packaging. Senior officers explained the manufacturing processes, focusing on quality control, production, standardization, and packaging of tablets.

Students saw the warehouse, where raw materials are received and quarantined for 7-10 days. During this time, the quality control department checks the materials to ensure they meet standards. Approved materials are then dispensed according to needs. The tour highlighted the protocols for receiving, storing, and dispensing raw materials, emphasizing the importance of maintaining high standards.

The students also explored a production unit, gaining practical experience of the manufacturing processes. They learned about formulation, mixing, granulation, compression, coating, and packaging, as well as the quality control measures ensuring the safety and effectiveness of pharmaceutical products. Advanced technologies and machinery were also demonstrated, showing the innovations in the industry.

During the tour, students interacted with professionals, asking questions and clarifying doubts to enhance their understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Overall, the visit to Glenmark Pharmaceuticals was a valuable experience. It introduced students to industry operations and safety protocols while providing practical exposure and deeper insights into drug production. The experience inspired and motivated them, highlighting the need for high standards and innovation in the pharmaceutical field.
