Educational tour to North Sikkim and East Sikkim

Our B. Pharm students, accompanied by two faculty members, departed from Guwahati and headed towards Siliguri aboard an overnight express bus on January 31, 2025. The tours began on the evening of 31st January 2025 from Guwahati to Siliguri, and the journey continues. The journey from Siliguri to Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, on the 1st of February 2025.
2nd February 2025: Gangtok tour, sightseeing in the state capital. Visit monasteries, plant conservatories, and other local sites.
3rd February 2025: Gangtok to Lachen (Sightseeing En Route).
4th February 2025: Excursion to Gurudongmar Lake.
Gurudongmar Lake is one of the highest lakes in the world, located at an altitude of approximately 17,800 feet (5,430 meters) in the Indian state of Sikkim. It is renowned for its stunning beauty and serene environment, surrounded by snow-capped mountains and lush greenery. The lake is considered sacred by Buddhists and Sikhs, and it is believed that Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, visited the lake during his travels. Visiting Gurudongmar Lake offers students a unique opportunity to experience the region’s natural beauty and cultural significance. The high-altitude trek to the lake provides a challenging yet rewarding adventure, allowing students to test their physical endurance and resilience. Additionally, including Gurudongmar Lake in the educational tour enriches the student’s learning experience by combining physical activity, cultural exploration, and environmental appreciation. It encourages students to develop a holistic understanding of the region’s natural and cultural assets, inspiring them to value and preserve such unique places.
5th February 2025: Excursion to Yumthang Valley.
Yumthang Valley, often called the “Valley of Flowers,” is a breathtakingly beautiful region in the North Sikkim district of India. Situated at approximately 11,800 feet (3,600 meters), this valley is renowned for its stunning landscape, which features vibrant flowers, lush meadows, and towering snow-capped peaks. The Yumthang River runs through the valley, adding to the picturesque scenery. Yumthang Valley is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. Students could observe various species of rhododendrons, primulas, and other alpine trees. This biodiversity provides an excellent opportunity for students to learn about plant biology, ecology, and conservation. Visiting this valley fosters a sense of environmental awareness and conservation among students. They witnessed the ecosystem’s delicate balance and understood the importance of preserving such pristine natural habitats.
6th January 2025: Industrial Training
The students visited two well-known industries, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, Ranipool, Sikkim and Mankind Pharma Ltd. Singtam, Sikkim, where they learned about the manufacturing process of tablets and capsules and put their theoretical knowledge into practice.
7th January 2025: Return to Guwahati.

The educational tour, provided the students with a rich and diverse learning experience. The students gained practical insights into the manufacturing processes of tablets and capsules, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world applications.
