The Institute of Pharmacy, Assam Don Bosco University, celebrated World Pharmacists Day 2025 with great enthusiasm and academic spirit on September 25, 2025, from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM. The event, organized by the Holistic Health Club and the Student Chapter, embraced this year’s global theme, “Think Health, Think Pharmacist,” recognizing the essential role of pharmacists in advancing healthcare and well-being.
The celebration commenced with an inaugural session, where Dr. L. Samananda Singh, Assistant Professor and event coordinator, extended a warm welcome to all participants and guests. This was followed by an inspiring address from Prof. Raja Chakraborty, Principal of the Institute of Pharmacy, who highlighted the evolving responsibilities of pharmacists in ensuring safe and effective medication use.
Adding a student perspective to the event, Ms. D’Arcy N Marak (B. Pharm 1st Semester) and Ms. Sradhya Das (B. Pharm 3rd Semester) delivered thoughtful speeches on the relevance of the day’s theme. An academic highlight of the programme was a 50-minute talk by Dr. Deepjyoti Saikia, Assistant Professor, who shared valuable insights into current trends and innovations in pharmacy practice.


A key attraction of the celebration was the debate competition, held from 2:00 PM to 3:20 PM, featuring twelve participants from both the B. Pharm and D. Pharm programs. The debate, conducted in a structured format, witnessed six participants speaking for the motion and six against it. With dynamic arguments and engaging rebuttals, the competition encouraged critical thinking, articulation, and teamwork among students. The team speaking for the motion, led by Keneisenua Rulho (B. Pharm 5th Semester), emerged victorious.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr. W. Somraj Singh, Associate Professor, acknowledging the contributions of faculty, students, and organizers. The celebration came to a close with the National Anthem, marking a fitting end to a day dedicated to honoring the indispensable role of pharmacists in healthcare.
