The Department of Psychology, Assam Don Bosco University proudly congratulates Dr. Sangita Nath, Assistant Professor, on being awarded the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Psychology by Gauhati University for her thesis titled “Emotional Intelligence, Locus of Control and Loneliness as Predictors of Suicidal Ideation among Medical and Non-Medical Students” on 31st March 2026. The Department appreciates her sustained academic dedication and scholarly excellence and extends its best wishes for her continued achievements in future academic and professional pursuits.
Dr. Sangita Nath was a PhD research scholar of the Department of Psychology, Gauhati University, where she carried out her doctoral research under the supervision of Prof. Rita Rani Talukdar, Head of the Department of Psychology, Gauhati University. She is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology, Assam Don Bosco University, Tepesia, Guwahati.
Her research focuses on examining the psychological factors influencing suicidal behaviour among higher education students, particularly the roles of emotional intelligence, locus of control, and loneliness among medical and non-medical student populations. The study highlights the predictive significance of these psychological variables and contributes to a better understanding of mental health vulnerabilities among young adults, thereby offering valuable insights for early identification, counselling interventions, and preventive mental health strategies.
