The Department of Psychology organized a “Discussion on Sustainable Development Goals followed by an Eco-Friendly Pledge” on 29th April 2026 at Block II Atrium, Assam Don Bosco University, Tapesia campus, as part of Earth Week 2026.
The primary objective of the programme was to create awareness about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to encourage students to adopt environmentally responsible behaviours in their daily lives. The activity aimed to highlight the importance of sustainability in addressing global environmental challenges while emphasizing the role of individuals in achieving these goals.
The event featured an engaging and interactive discussion session where students actively participated by sharing ideas, perspectives, and reflections on sustainable development. The session fostered critical thinking and encouraged students to connect theoretical concepts with real-life environmental concerns.
This was followed by an eco-friendly pledge, where participants collectively committed to practicing sustainable habits such as reducing waste, conserving energy, and promoting environmental protection in their daily lives.
Organized in collaboration with the NSS Cell, the programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across undergraduate and postgraduate levels, thereby fostering a strong sense of environmental awareness and responsibility.
Through this activity, students developed and demonstrated:
- Awareness of Sustainable Development Goals and environmental sustainability
- Sense of individual and collective responsibility towards the environment
- Skills in communication, critical thinking, and collaborative learning
- Commitment to adopting eco-friendly practices in everyday life
- Ability to reflect on and engage with global environmental iss
The programme generated a positive impact by fostering environmental awareness and encouraging behavioural commitment among participants. The initiative successfully created a platform for dialogue and reflection on sustainability-related issues.
The measurable outcomes include:

Although the activity was primarily awareness-based, its impact is reflected in the students’ willingness to adopt sustainable practices and their expressed intent to implement these behaviours in real-life contexts.
