International Day of Immunology 2026 Observed with Enthusiasm at Dimoria College

The International Day of Immunology 2026 was successfully observed at Dimoria College with an engaging academic programme centered on the theme “Regulatory T Cells: Guardians of Immune Balance.” The event was jointly organized by the Department of Biosciences, Assam Don Bosco University, the Department of Botany, Dimoria College, and the Institutional Biotech Hub, Dimoria College.

The programme commenced at 10:30 AM and brought together faculty members, students, and distinguished guests to promote awareness of immunology and its relevance in modern healthcare. The event was convened by Dr. Monika Soni, while Dr. Siva P. K. Chettri served as the Organising Secretary.

Among the notable attendees were Mr. Angira Bhagawati, Principal In-charge of Dimoria College; Dr. Sai Rai Chaudhary, Coordinator of the Institutional Biotech Hub; Dr. Maitrayee Dutta Swargiary of Assam Don Bosco University; and Dr. Probodh Borah, Director of Research (Veterinary), Assam Agricultural University, who attended as the Guest of Honour.

The event began with a formal welcome and felicitation of guests, followed by an introductory address delivered by Ms. Shivani Sutradhar, who highlighted the importance of immunology and opportunities within the field. A student-led skit effectively illustrated the role of regulatory T cells in maintaining immune balance, simplifying complex scientific concepts for the audience.

A key highlight of the programme was the keynote lecture by Dr. Probodh Borah, who discussed recent advances in immunology, immune regulation, and immunotherapy. His talk emphasized the growing significance of immune-based treatments in disease management and encouraged students to pursue research in the field.

The programme also featured interactive activities, including a quiz and poster-making competition, which witnessed active student participation. These events provided a platform for students to demonstrate scientific understanding and creativity.
