As part of Earth Week 2026 (April 22–29, 2026), the Department of Bio-Sciences at Assam Don Bosco University organized a Pledge Activity on Eco-friendly Practices in Campus in collaboration with the Vita Scientia Club under the Bharat Environment Program. The initiative aimed to instill environmental responsibility among students by encouraging sustainable lifestyle choices and eco-conscious behavior.
The activity was conducted on April 27, 2026, and focused on fostering a culture of environmental stewardship within the campus community. Students participated in a formal pledge-taking session, collectively committing to adopt eco-friendly practices such as reducing plastic usage, conserving water and energy, and maintaining cleanliness across the campus.
A key feature of the programme was the creation of a Pledge Wall, where students documented their individual commitments toward sustainability. This visual installation served as both a symbolic and practical reminder of their responsibility toward environmental conservation.
In addition to the pledge, a campus cleaning activity was organized, during which students actively engaged in maintaining cleanliness and ensuring proper waste disposal. This hands-on component reinforced the importance of translating awareness into actionable practices.
The programme witnessed the participation of 31 students, including 13 students from the 4th semester and 18 students from the 2nd semester. Their involvement contributed to the overall success and impact of the initiative.
The activity effectively strengthened students’ commitment to sustainable practices while promoting awareness of environmental issues. The combination of pledge-taking, visual engagement through the pledge wall, and practical cleaning efforts created a holistic approach to environmental education.
The Pledge Activity stands as a meaningful contribution to the objectives of the Bharat Environment Program and reflects the university’s continued efforts to promote sustainability and environmental consciousness within the campus community.
