On the occasion of National DNA Day, the Vita Scientia Club, in collaboration with the Centre of Bioengineering, Assam Don Bosco University, successfully organized a one-day online workshop titled “MATLAB Applications in DNA Analysis and Bioinformatics” on 11 May 2026.
The workshop attracted 22 participants from diverse academic disciplines, including Zoology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, and Engineering, reflecting the growing interdisciplinary interest in computational biology and bioinformatics.
The programme commenced with an introductory session by Dr. Vedant V. Borah, who emphasized the significance of computational tools in modern biological research. He highlighted the increasing relevance of MATLAB in addressing complex problems in bioinformatics and data-driven life science studies.
The technical sessions were conducted by Dr. Hemashree Bordoloi, who provided comprehensive insights into the application of MATLAB for DNA and protein sequence analysis. Through detailed explanations, practical demonstrations, and hands-on exercises, participants gained valuable experience in sequence analysis and computational interpretation of biological data.
The workshop was highly interactive and informative, with participants actively engaging in the hands-on activities and discussions throughout the programme. The event successfully created awareness about the expanding role of computational biology and bioinformatics tools in life science research.
The organizers expressed their gratitude to the resource persons and participants for contributing to the success of the workshop and reaffirmed their commitment to promoting scientific learning and interdisciplinary skill development through such initiatives.
