The Mathematics Training and Talent Search (MTTS) programme designed for young minds that are inclined towards Mathematics was incepted in the year 1993.
Every year, a large number of applications are received from all parts of the country for the MTTS programmes. However, due to limitation of resources and seats, many deserving candidates do not get a chance to be a part of the selection list of MTTS programme. This year the Initiation into this Mathematics Training Programme was organized at Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU), Tapesia Gardens, Sonapur-782402, Assam, India during September 24–29, 2022 under the aegis of Mathematics Training and Talent Search (MTTS) TRUST. It was being funded by NBHM, DAE, Govt. of India. It was coordinated by Dr. Hemen Bharali, HOD, Department of Mathematics, ADBU and witnessed the presence of 30 enthusiastic participants from all 8 states of North East India.
The inaugural event was graced by Prof. Bhaba K. Sarma, IIT Guwahati (Academic Coordinator, MTTS Trust), Dr. Dhiren Kumar Basnet, Tezpur University, Dr. Uday Shankar Chakraborty, Assam University Silchar, Vice Chancellor of ADBU, Registrar of ADBU, Director, School of Fundamental and Applied sciences, Faculty Members of the Mathematics Department, ADBU. At the inaugural session, all the dignitaries and participants were welcomed by Dr. Hemen Bharali, HOD Mathematics, followed by a speech by Vice Chancellor Fr Stephen Mavely of Assam Don Bosco University, where he said that it was indeed a matter of great joy for the University to have hosted such a prestigious programme and congratulated all the participants for being part of this programme. Prof. Bhaba K Sarma, emphasized about the framework of MTTS programme and laid stress on the contribution of MTTS events in developing fundamental concepts and to stimulate the participants to think and discover mathematical results on their own.
