The Department of Economics proudly congratulates Dr. Moitreyee Das on the successful defense of her PhD thesis titled “Community Based Tourism Development- A Tool for Sustainable Tourism with Special Emphasis on Chakrasila Wildlife Sanctuary, Assam” on 27th February 2026. The Department appreciates the valuable contribution made by Dr. Moitreyee Das to the field of Community Based Tourism and wishes her continued success in future academic and professional endeavours. This significant academic achievement reflects years of rigorous research, perseverance, and scholarly dedication.
Moitreyee Das was a research scholar of the Department of Economics, Assam Don Bosco University working on her doctoral research entitled, “Community Based Tourism Development- A Tool for Sustainable Tourism with Special Emphasis on Chakrasila Wildlife Sanctuary, Assam” under the supervision of Dr. Pranti Dutta, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, ADBU.
The study examines the transformative role of Community-Based Tourism (CBT) in fostering social cohesion, cultural preservation, and active community participation in and around Chakrasila Wildlife Sanctuary. A key contribution is the RISE–LOOP–STAR–SEED Integrated Model, a cyclical and transferable framework promotes resilient, socially cohesive, community-driven sustainable destination development.
