The Institute of Pharmacy, Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) celebrated World Pharmacists Day 2026 with enthusiasm and active participation from students and faculty. The celebration was organized under the global theme “Empowering Pharmacists for Healthier Futures”, with the sub-theme “Swastha Bharat: Combating Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)”.
The programme commenced with a welcome address, followed by an inspiring speech by Prof. (Dr.) Raja Chakraborty, Principal, Institute of Pharmacy, ADBU, who emphasized the evolving responsibilities of pharmacists in the healthcare sector. He encouraged the students to develop professional competence, ethical values and a strong commitment to serving society.
The celebration featured a range of academic and cultural competitions, including a debate competition, where students expressed their perspectives on contemporary issues related to pharmacy and healthcare. The programme was further enlivened by enthusiastic singing and dance competitions, which showcased the creativity and talents of the students.
A skit competition was also organized, through which students presented engaging and socially relevant messages highlighting the role of pharmacists, responsible use of medicines and healthcare awareness. The performances effectively combined education, creativity and entertainment, receiving enthusiastic appreciation from the audience.
The celebration concluded with appreciation for the participants, faculty members and organizers. The event provided a meaningful platform for students to celebrate the pharmacy profession while developing their confidence, creativity, teamwork and sense of professional responsibility.
