Ms. Krishnapriya Wangkhem, Counsellor and Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, Assam Don Bosco University has been actively contributing to student well-being and mental health awareness through a range of counselling, wellness and psychoeducational initiatives conducted across the University.
As part of the BA First Semester Orientation Programme, Ms. Wangkhem carried out a session on “Mental Wellness: Building a Healthy Mind for Academic Success.” The session focused on helping students understand the importance of mental well-being, develop healthy coping strategies and maintain a balanced approach towards their academic and personal lives.
She also participated in the inauguration of the new academic year, where she introduced students to the Psychological Counselling Services and the Counselling Unit under the Department of Psychology, Assam Don Bosco University. The session familiarised students with the counselling support available at the University and highlighted the importance of seeking professional psychological support when required.
As part of the Induction Programme for ITEP students, Ms. Wangkhem conducted a session on Stress Management, addressing common sources of stress among students and discussing practical strategies for managing academic pressure, emotional challenges and everyday stressors.
Through these initiatives, Ms. Wangkhem continues to strengthen the University’s commitment to student mental health, psychological well-being and holistic development. Her sessions provide students with greater awareness of mental health, encourage healthy coping mechanisms, and promote a supportive environment where seeking psychological assistance is recognised as an important part of maintaining overall well-being.
