The Department of Zoology, Assam Don Bosco University in collaboration with the Eco Club held a 1-day program to celebrate Wildlife Week 2025 (02nd – 08th October 2025) on the 08th of October 2025 in the Auditorium of Academic Block 1. The event was attended by faculties and students from different departments who actively participated in the different competitions held on this day – Painting, Quiz, and the Extempore Speech.
The day started with the painting competition which was held as a part of the Centenary Celebration of World Animal Day, based on the theme – Save Animals, Save the Planet. The quiz and extempore competitions were based on topics related to wildlife. The quiz competitions were participated by a total of 10 students. The extempore showed a participation of a total of 15 students hailing from different departments. The competitions gave the students an opportunity to display their artistry, intellect, knowledge and oration skills while also building their confidence, gaining knowledge and spreading awareness for the beauty and need of conserving wildlife. The program was successful and fruitful instilling in the participants knowledge about the status of wildlife in our country, more specifically our region (Northeast India); a love for nature and its inhabitants and more importantly a need to why wildlife should be protected, conserved and treated with respect.
