Successfully organized a three-day workshop on “Qualitative Research Tools and Approaches” from 26th to 28th March 2026 at the Conference Hall, Azara Campus.

The Department of Economics at Assam Don Bosco University successfully organized a three-day workshop on “Qualitative Research Tools and Approaches” from 26th to 28th March 2026 at the Conference Hall, Azara Campus. The workshop was sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research and conducted in collaboration with the Northeastern Social Research Centre, Guwahati. The workshop commenced with an inaugural session graced by the presence of the Hon’ble Pro Vice-Chancellor Fr. Joseph Nellanatt, along with other eminent faculty members and distinguished personalities from various departments of the university. The inaugural programme was conducted successfully.

The workshop brought together a diverse group of expert resource persons from reputed institutions, including OKD Institute of Social Change and Development, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, Tata Institute of Social Sciences Guwahati, and the Northeastern Social Research Centre, Guwahati. Their rich academic and field-based expertise contributed significantly to the depth and quality of the workshop sessions. A total of 30 participants attended the workshop, including faculty members and research scholars from Cotton University, Gauhati University, Assam Don Bosco University, B. P. Chaliha College, Pandu College, and other colleges and higher education institutions. In addition, representatives from NGOs such as Action Northeast Trust and The Endeavour NGO were also part of the programme.

The workshop covered a wide range of topics related to qualitative research, including research design, data collection techniques, and analytical approaches. A major highlight of the programme was the hands-on training sessions, where participants were introduced to qualitative data analysis software, enabling them to gain practical skills essential for academic and field research. Overall, the workshop provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, capacity building, and academic interaction among participants and experts. It concluded successfully with active engagement from all attendees, contributing to strengthening qualitative research competencies in the region.
