Institute of Pharmacy, Assam Don Bosco University Conducts Career Guidance Programme for B.Pharm Students

The Institute of Pharmacy, Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU), organised an insightful career guidance programme titled “From Classroom to Career: Opportunities after B. Pharm” on 30 April 2026 to help pharmacy students explore diverse professional opportunities and prepare for successful careers in the pharmaceutical sector.

The programme, coordinated by Dr. Emdormi Rymbai and Dr. Deepjyoti Saikia, brought together 72 students, including 55 students from the B.Pharm 6th Semester and 17 students from the B.Pharm 8th Semester, for an interactive session focused on career planning and industry readiness.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Pratap Kalita, Associate Professor, PIPS, Guwahati, who provided valuable insights into the evolving pharmaceutical landscape and the competencies required to excel in today’s competitive job market. He encouraged students to look beyond conventional career options and explore emerging fields such as Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, Quality Assurance, Clinical Research, Industrial Manufacturing, and Pharmaceutical Marketing.

During the session, Dr. Kalita highlighted the importance of bridging the gap between academic learning and professional practice by developing both technical expertise and essential soft skills, including communication, teamwork, ethical decision-making, and problem-solving. He also discussed the advantages of pursuing higher education, such as M.Pharm and MBA programmes, versus entering the workforce immediately, enabling students to make informed decisions about their future careers.

The programme further familiarised participants with the role of institutional training and placement support in enhancing employability and navigating recruitment opportunities within the pharmaceutical industry. Students actively participated in discussions and interacted with the speaker, making the session highly engaging and informative.

Speaking on the occasion, the organisers emphasised that career guidance initiatives play a crucial role in equipping students with the knowledge, confidence, and practical understanding required to meet the expectations of the rapidly evolving healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors. They noted that such programmes help students align their academic preparation with industry requirements while inspiring them to pursue meaningful and rewarding career paths.

The Institute of Pharmacy, Assam Don Bosco University, reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing industry-ready pharmacy graduates by organising regular career development programmes that strengthen academic excellence, professional competence, and placement readiness.
