Institute of Pharmacy, Assam Don Bosco University Inaugurates National Two-Week Online FDP on Next-Generation B.Pharm Curriculum

The Institute of Pharmacy, School of Life Sciences, Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU), Tapesia Campus, inaugurated the Two-Week Online Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Next Gen B.Pharm Curriculum” on 22 July 2026 in hybrid mode. The program, organized in collaboration with the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) under the banner PHARMA AI EDUTECH, will continue until 5 August 2026.

The inaugural ceremony commenced with registration, followed by a welcome address by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Fr. Dr. Jose Palely. The event featured lamp lighting, Saraswati Vandana, and a tribute to renowned Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, and the felicitation of distinguished guests.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Montu Kumar Patel, Hon’ble President of the Pharmacy Council of India, emphasized the importance of implementing the NEP 2020-aligned B.Pharm curriculum to produce competent and future-ready pharmacy professionals. He was joined by Dr. H. Lalhlenmawia, Executive Member, PCI, who highlighted the need for innovation, quality education, and curriculum transformation in pharmacy education.

The academic sessions began with Dr. Sarath Chandran C., CC Member, PCI, who presented an overview of the newly introduced B.Pharm syllabus under NEP 2020 and discussed its key features. In the afternoon, Dr. Akash Marathakam, Professor, Sree Gokulam SNGM College of Pharmacy, spoke on AI-integrated and future-focused pharmacy education, highlighting the transformative role of artificial intelligence in teaching, learning, and healthcare, followed by Dr. Saikat Sen, Professor, Assam Down Town University, who delivered a session on Outcome-Based Education and NEP 2020,.

The day concluded with a summary and a vote of thanks by the Convenor. The FDP has brought together pharmacy educators, academicians, and professionals from across the country to strengthen teaching competencies and facilitate the effective implementation of the next-generation pharmacy curriculum.
