Career Counselling Seminar on ‘Unlock Your Future: Options After Graduation’, November 2025

A Career Counselling Seminar titled “Unlock Your Future: Options After Graduation” was
organised on 10th November 2025 by the Department of Mechanical Engineering in
collaboration with the Career Guidance Cell of Assam Don Bosco University, School
of Technology. The session was led by Dr. Buljit Buragohain, Head of the Department of
Mechanical Engineering and Chairman of the Career Guidance Cell.
In his presentation, Dr. Buragohain spoke about the wide range of career choices available
to engineering students after completing their graduation. He gave clear explanations of
competitive examinations such as the Engineering Services Examination (ESE) and the
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). He discussed why these examinations are
important, what kind of job opportunities they offer, and how students should plan their
preparation.
Dr. Buragohain also guided the students on how to prepare for interviews, emphasising
good communication skills, confidence, and technical knowledge. He explained the common
mistakes students make during interviews and how they can avoid them. In addition to job-
oriented guidance, he also spoke about higher education options, including M.Tech, MBA,
research fields, and opportunities to study abroad. He encouraged students to select
courses matching their interests and long-term goals.
Another important point he highlighted was that a person’s hobbies, strengths, and
personality traits can play a major role in choosing the right career. He advised students to
understand themselves and make informed decisions rather than follow trends.
The seminar received positive response from the students and proved helpful in providing
clarity about future career paths.
