Debate and Extempore Speech Competitions on Vigilance Awareness Week 2025

The Department of Public Administration, Assam Don Bosco University, Tapesia Campus, Sonapur, Assam, is pleased to announce the organisation of Debate and Extempore Speech Competitions on 31 October 2025 as part of the observance of Vigilance Awareness Week 2025.

This initiative is being conducted in collaboration with the Debate, Quiz, and Literary Club of the University, aiming to encourage students to engage with themes of integrity, accountability, and participatory governance.

About the Competitions

The programme will feature two engaging student competitions:

Extempore Speech Competition

Students will speak on topics given on the spot
Focus on spontaneity, clarity of thought, and communication skills

Debate Competition

Topic: “Integrity and Vigilance are the Cornerstones of Good Governance”
Participants will present arguments both for and against the motion
Emphasis on critical thinking, research, and articulation

Objectives

To promote awareness on vigilance, ethics, and accountability
To enhance students’ analytical thinking and public speaking skills
To encourage informed discussion on governance and public responsibility
To foster a culture of integrity and ethical leadership

Participation & Evaluation

Participants will be assessed based on:

Content and relevance
Clarity of expression
Argumentation and critical thinking
Confidence and delivery

Certificates will be awarded to all participants in recognition of their contribution.
