



The Department of Public Administration, Assam Don Bosco University (Tapesia Campus), organized a Special Lecture under the theme of Viksit Bharat on 22nd March 2024 at the Cenacle Hall, Academic Block V.
The lecture was titled “A Path to Sustainable Living through Climate-Smart Farming and Agro-Tourism for Self-Reliant Rural Communities” and was delivered by Farmer Samir Bordoloi, Ashoka Fellow, ORA Fellow, and Founder of Green Commandos & AVATAR.
The session began with the felicitation of the speaker by Prof. Fr. (Dr.) Zacharias George, Director of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Dr. Pankaj Kumar Kalita, Head of the Department, introduced the speaker, and the event was anchored by Ms. Khaidem Yaiphabi Singha, Assistant Professor.
During the lecture, the speaker shared valuable insights on sustainable agricultural practices, climate-smart farming, and the integration of agro-tourism as a means of promoting self-reliant rural economies. He emphasized the importance of preserving indigenous seeds, advocating eco-friendly food practices, and resisting the monopolization of agricultural systems by large corporations.
The session also highlighted the significance of building sustainable and inclusive rural communities while fostering environmental consciousness among students. The event witnessed active participation from 109 students and faculty members, followed by an engaging learning experience.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Saurabh Chandra, Coordinator of Viksit Bharat activities.
