International Labour Day Workshop on Dignity of Labour Organized by the Department of Public Administration

The Department of Public Administration, Assam Don Bosco University (Tapesia Campus), organized a workshop titled “Dignity in Doing: Reclaiming Labour in the Classroom” on 2nd May 2025 at Block V, in observance of International Labour Day.

The workshop aimed to instill a sense of respect for labour and encourage students to become socially responsible individuals. The program commenced at 9:00 AM with a welcome note and a special presentation by Dr. Santhosh Juvvaka, Assistant Professor and Coordinator, who highlighted the philosophical and social significance of labour. His address encouraged students to reflect on their roles in promoting dignity, cleanliness, and justice in everyday life.

A key highlight of the workshop was an interactive session with Ms. Minamma and other members of the university’s cleaning staff. They shared their personal experiences, challenges, and the importance of maintaining hygiene and respect for all forms of labour. Their interaction deeply resonated with the students, fostering empathy and awareness.

Students actively participated in the initiative by engaging in cleanliness activities across classrooms, collecting waste materials, and promoting responsible behavior towards maintaining a clean environment.

The workshop concluded at 1:00 PM with a vote of thanks extended to all speakers, participants, and the support staff. The event successfully reinforced the values of dignity of labour, mutual respect, and collective responsibility among participants.
