Two-Day Workshop on Service Learning Organized by the Department of Public Administration

The Department of Public Administration, Assam Don Bosco University (Tapesia Campus), successfully organized a Two-Day Workshop on Service Learning for UG 1st Semester students as part of their bridge course and skill-building initiatives. The workshop was conducted on 31st August 2025 and 2nd September 2025 at the university campus.

The sessions were facilitated by Ms. Alinisha Boro, Program Coordinator and Documentation Officer at CDSI, who served as the resource person.

Day 1 (31st August 2025):
The first session introduced students to the concept of Service Learning, emphasizing its importance in connecting classroom knowledge with real-world community engagement. The session focused on experiential learning, civic responsibility, and reflective practices. Students were encouraged to critically analyze their social surroundings and identify areas where they could contribute meaningfully. Group activities were conducted, where students explored and presented ideas on service-learning practices in the community.

Day 2 (2nd September 2025):
The second session focused on practical aspects of designing and implementing service-learning projects. Students were guided on project planning, execution, documentation, and evaluation. The session included discussions on best practices and case studies, helping students understand the impact of structured community engagement.

Students actively participated by presenting innovative ideas for service-learning initiatives. One notable idea on animal protection and animal husbandry, proposed by a group of students, was particularly appreciated for its uniqueness and relevance.

The workshop concluded with an interactive discussion where students shared their project ideas and reflected on their learning experiences. The sessions successfully enhanced students’ understanding of participatory learning and inspired them to contribute actively to social change.
