United Nations Day 2025 Celebration: Empowering Youth for Peace, Development and Human Rights

The Department of Public Administration, Assam Don Bosco University, Tapesia Campus, Sonapur, Assam, is pleased to announce the celebration of United Nations Day 2025 on 24 October 2025.

This year’s celebration is themed “Empowering Youth for Peace, Development and Human Rights”, marking the 80th anniversary of the United Nations and reaffirming the global commitment to peace, human rights, and sustainable development.

About the Programme

United Nations Day is observed annually to commemorate the establishment of the United Nations in 1945. The programme aims to engage students as global citizens and change-makers through discussions, creative expression, and academic activities aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and national educational priorities.

Objectives

  • To commemorate the founding of the United Nations and its role in global governance
  • To raise awareness about peace, development, and human rights
  • To encourage youth participation in achieving the SDGs

The event will feature a variety of academic and interactive sessions, including:

  • Opening Ceremony with welcome address and UN Charter message
  • Keynote Talk on “The Relevance of the United Nations in the 21st Century”
  • Documentary Screening followed by discussion
  • Inter-Class Quiz Competition on UN agencies, SDGs, and global peace
  • Poster & Slogan Competition on themes such as Youth for SDGs, Human Rights, and Climate Action
  • Student Presentations on global issues and India’s role in the UN
  • Valedictory Session & Award Distribution
